Shouldn't street photography be photographs of streets and or street names. Also I have never heard such a cheerful version of such a sad song.

Interesting vlog this week Ralph, it's amazing how you can look at things in a different perspective when subjects seem a little uninteresting to the untrained eye, but with your eye you can bring out those images to life and make them look brilliant through I.C.M and B&W. Lovely video Ralph, your decision to plump for the lighter gear was a good one I think, especially as it seemed as if it was a warm day. Definitely helps with getting the right angles hand held too. You have made some very good points Ralph. Big heavy equipment can actually hinder rather than help us getting photos. For wildlife photography this is true. I remember the good old days when I was shooting wildlife with a D500 and the Sigma 150-600 sport edition and that was nearly 4kg on its own. I started feeling the pain on my back and arms after only a couple of hours and that discouraged me a lot. With mirrorless though this has drastically changed. Great captures too, especially given the harsh light!!!

I paid a visit to Martin Mere wildlife sanctuary in Lancashire, last December. I use the M43 format and have a Leica DG 100-400mm f4-6.3. It's a very portable configuration, has fantastic image stabilisation, and an effective FF maximum focal length of 800 mm. I can use it without a tripod. I got some super images of flamingos and other wading birds in some wonderful low winter sun. So your video struck a chord with me. Use the best tool for the job not the best (ultimate) technology. Sure, had I been shooting pre-dawn in low light perhaps I would have needed an ultra expensive fast prime. Even then, my M43 system performs brilliantly at high ISO. I like to go fell walking and the M43 system means I can get images that would be impractical with a larger full frame format. I liked how you used the shorter lens to include the surrounding environment which means a more interesting composition rather than a 'record' type close cropped species orientated image. Oops something went wrong

Ralph, I don't get a chance to shoot the beach very often so if i get a chance it is a treat. You videos prepared me for the 10 days of shooting I did last year on the Oregon coast, especially the long exposures. Keep doing seascapes when time allow, I always enjoy them..

Really difficult conditions to shoot Ralph, using a tripod would have been a "non go" for me. Really liked the dramatic scene towards the end of the video. Thanks for sharing!!

Hi Ralph. It is so great to see you back visiting the beach even though the conditions were "far from perfect". I actually just came back from a visit to a local former rice plantation, now a actively managed wildlife preserve, where the conditions (unbearable heat and NO wind) were far from perfect as well.... that is how it goes sometimes. I specifically liked your last photo at around 9:30 showing that the mediterranean is not always that slick mirror that some folks believe it is.... on a different not, changing lenses when the sand is blowing everywhere shows dedication and/or nerves.... Thanks for posting !!

Yet another exciting subject, in challenging conditions. In this area of Spain, the light sometimes becomes so strong during the day. Can't wait to go back there this summer.
